Good Morning and Happy Friday Lettuce Heads!

I know last weekend was busy for most as it was indeed Memorial Day weekend.  I definitely enjoyed my time with friends, family, hittin the pool, intimate time with my bike, fun day with coworkers, and OF COURSE the greatest sport spectacle on Earth! Even though it was last weekend, I wanted to tie in the Indy 500 with a lot of the pod casts and books Ive been digesting lately. Now, I’m not sure if you guys find themes within your weeks or gravitate towards metaphors- but, take it or leave it,  I’m going to address a theme that is resonating in my life right now. Im running and riding around, literally, RACING even, but dont know EXACTLY where I’m going. I think this is fantastic, exciting, a part of being fully human, and I dont believe in ONE TRUE solid finish line… in life as a whole. If I were to use one of my favorite quotes, from Lil Wayne no less, he says, “every finish line is the start to a new race.” I LOVE THAT. Theres always new challenges, always new journeys, and the key to enjoying them is to possess a resonating happiness and peace while going through them, regardless of when or where or with who.

Now that I know I believe in that, the questions the podcasts and books have been creating in my mind are ones of “what are your morals?”, “what direction do you want to go with your life”, “what is your mission statement?“. These questions can apply to your relationship with your significant other, your work/career, and most importantly that relationship with yourself. People think mission statements tend to be too formal, or not important. But as I was listening to some Entre-Leadership Podcasts from Dave Ramsey (free on Itunes- check it out), I agreed with the fact that one needs to know what theyre doing, how theyre going to do it, and why. This can keep you from running, racing around doing things that dont ring true to your mission statement. This can also inspire you to focus on what you’re already doing- its relevance and importance, as well as motivating you to move forward with other things that you’ve been putting off.

If you havent been asked by a family member, employer, or potential mate “where do you see yourself in 5 years?”, than ask yourself. My answer is so much more clear than it was when I was asked by my first employer 4 years ago- and for that I am thankful. I used to have anxiety about figuring things out and knowing where to go, but have realized with time, patience, and continually thinking sincerely when people ask me what I want to do , how I want to do it, and WHY, I’ve begun to develop some clarity.

1. Here is my first mission statement I came up with in regards to my health and fitness business:

My mission is to provide my clients with the highest quality of insight, inspiration and tools necessary to achieve their health and fitness goals.

2. Here is my revised version after listening to the Dave Ramsey Podcast, emphasizing the what, how, and why:

My mission is to provide my clients with the highest quality of insight, inspiration, and tools necessary to achieve their health, fitness, and business goals, leading by action, motivating through positivity and enthusiasm, supporting through accessibility, and creating success through accountability. By doing so I help my clients and fellow coaches reach the quality of life they know they deserve, fulfilling my purpose of helping others while I continually work towards my ultimate potential  as an instructor, coach, and leader.

Now I know what I dont know,I know what I know,  and I defintely dont know what I dont know… life is magical, Im here to ride it out, whether Im enjoying it all and soaking it up and/or racing to my first finish line, second, or hundredth. It’s just surely nice to know what I want to do, how I want to do it, and why.

Here are some racing pics for your viewing pleasure:

I never assign homework to my readers, but if I were to… Id say to pick something in your life you never ask yourself about….what direction do you want to take it? with what tone and morals do you want to do it ? and WHY are you doing this in the first place?

Have a great weekend and start to June!
